Since it is a public holiday today and the weather bureau announces increasing high pressure influence i decided to try it once more in the Jura. I was not too optimistic. Many indications where against a good flying day: Much rain yesterday and last night, low clouds along the hills and strong wind in the morning. Also the expected high clouds later in the day where not really encouraging. The base was low and the clouds indicated strong westerly wind when I arrived at the launching site. I waited until 12:30 and launched behind two other pilots. In front of the launch I get strong lift for about 50 - 100 meter with little forwards speed left though. I take a picture of the launching site wher I can see many hang-gliders and paragliders getting ready. I'm now following the chain of hills and try to gain as much height as possible. The base is low and I can only get about to 1200 meters sealevel, a mere 200 meters above the hill tops. I' m now flying in direction of Balstal, following the hills and trying to stay high. Over Holderbank (SO) I take the small chance and change to the front chain of hills, since I give myself little chance to get far and from there the possibilities to catch public transport are much better. Now I pass Egerkingen and can fight my way back up to the base (1200 meters asl). I then decide to go an land between Hägendorf and Kleinwangen. Bejond that the landing areas become few and the wind is strong e. Still more than a hour of flight, and despite difficult conditions I managed to fly a short distance.
