Getting up late, everybody is meeting around 11 o'clock in front of the flying school. In the short time being here I have meet many mexican pilots and I'm surprised how activ the local paragliding sceen is. Some come a long way to fly here in Valle de Bravo. There ar also many foreign pilots, a Columbian, a Venezuelan, some Germans, Americans and a group from the Chech Republic. In contrast to the 'normal' local population, most speak englisch, some really well. Paragliding is expensive, for this reason most pilots are part of the upper class. Many pilots sleep in a house, where a local pilot offers beds for 200 Pesos (about 18 Dollar) a night. The local flying school Alas del Hombre (The wings of man) drives with a small truck several times a day to the launching site. Costs 40 Pesos, abou 4 Dollars. I also join and go to the top, watch the action for a while and enjoy the view. A bit later I take off and enjoy the gentle soaring. I't is not quiet as good as yesterday, the base is lower, still one can fly for hours. Unfortunatly my (old) digital camera broke yesterday, so I had to change to my conventional cammera. It will therfor take a while until I can complement this report with my photos. |
Over the launching site, probably the only launching site specially made in concrete.
Valle de Bravo and the lake.
The hills on the right of the launch. |
